On Saturday, Filipino seven-time champion Manny Pacquiao will gun for his eight title in eight different weight categories. If Pacquiao wins, he will add another distinction in his long resume of boxing greatness. Pacquiao will meet the disgraced and dishonored Mexican Antonio Margarito.
The junior middleweight title fight will have a catch weight of 150 lbs. This would be Pacquiao's heaviest fight as he climbed from 147 lbs in his previous victory over Joshua Clottey to the junior middleweight limits.
Pacquiao's first half of training was held in his home country. Distractions were aplenty since he's also an elected congressman in his province. His focus was not there during his training which irked his renowned trainer Freddie Roach. Things change when they arrived in Roach's Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. Pacquiao was more attentive and showcased his deadly from with a few days to spare before the Saturday night fight. Pacquiao must bring his tremendous hand and foot speed plus his punching power to beat Antonio Margarito.
Antonio Margarito has nothing to lose in this fight but he has a lot to gain if he beat the pound-for-pound king. This is Margarito's chance to reinvent and vindicate his name after he was suspended due to a loaded hand wrap in his fight against Sugar Shane Mosley. He's taller and heavier against Pacquiao which is on of his main advantage. Yet, Manny has a penchant of defeating heavier and taller boxer. Margarito must bring the fight in to the four corner of the ring rather than fight Pacquiao front and center.
The boxing handicappers have installed Manny Pacquiao as the overwhelming favorite to get his 8-division title against Antonio Margarito at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
