On Thursday, Tiger Woods will tee off at Turnberry Ailsa Course in Scotland for the 2009 British Open. And everybody knows that if it's a major tournament expect Tiger to be the frontrunner among golfers entered in the event.
Tiger aims for his 4th win of the 2009 season and 4th Claret Jug collection. Last year, he was at home recuperating from an ACL surgery on his ailing knee. Since his return, he won 4 PGA tournaments and earned a 6th place finish in the Masters and US Open. For an ordinary golfer that would be a comeback success but for Tiger he only cares about on improving more his game, regain his solid form and earn his 15th major trophy.
This would be the first time that Woods will play at Turnberry. It doesn't necessarily mean that he can't win on a golf course the he hasn't played in his career. He won at Medinah, Valhalla, Bethpage and Hoylake all golf courses that he played for the first time and those are all major tournament wins.
I think that Woods will emerge on top at the British Open after missing out on his chances in the US Open and Masters. I believe that he has regain his golf swing, putting stroke and has log enough rounds to improve his stamina and knee strength after a long layoff.
What I've learned on these major tournaments, never bet against Tiger Woods especially if he has something to prove. Even the sportsbook odds installed him an overwhelming favorite to win at the British Open.
