2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:Brickyard 400July 26, 2011 by Marc Jerbs

On Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup series continues after a two-week hiatus. The 2.5-mile oval Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host the Brickyard 400 in Indiana. Race time is set at 1PM ET.

Before the two-week break, Ryan Newman earned his 1st win of the season be edging out teammate Tony Stewart at the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 in New Hampshire. He led a 1-2 finish for the Stewart-Haas Racing team.

It was a first time since 2006 that two drivers who started the race at 1st and 2nd finished the same positions. It was the duo of Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch who was the last to accomplish this rare feat.

Carl Edwards still leads the driver's standings with 652 points but tailing him closely is 5-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson. Other notable drivers in the top 10 standings are Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Denny Hamlin.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed both Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson as the favorites to win the Brickyard 400 this Sunday. However, only one of these two drivers would emerge victorious.
