On Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns after a brief hiatus at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Emory Healthcare 500. The quad-oval track boasts a 24-degree turns and 5-degree straights. It also has a 125,000 seating capacity that could accommodate diehard NASCAR fans over the weekend.
With only a couple of races left for the last remaining slots for the "Chase for the Sprint Cup", a lot of drivers are still optimistic that they could still barge in the Final 12 for the upcoming postseason races. Kevin Harvick still leads the standings with 3521 points followed by Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Greg Bifle and Clint Bowyer.
The tenth to twelfth position are still up for grabs; a bunch of seasoned-drivers outside the Top 12 still has a chance to qualify. These are Jami McMurray, Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Davied Reutimann and Dale Earnhardt Jr. It would be a tough race for these competitors as the cut-off for the "Chase for the Sprint Cup" draws near.
The auto racing handicappers have placed Jimmie Johnson as the favorite to win the Emory Healthcare 500 this coming Sunday. Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch loom as his worthy challenger in this NASCAR race.
