A brief hiatus ensued after an intense and nerve-wracking Rounds 1 and 2 in this year's College Basketball Tournament. It was a needed break for the college teams that have survived their grueling matches.
On Thursday and Friday, the rested teams will continue its mission to qualify in the Final Four as the teams who survived enters the Sweet 16 round of the tournament. It is another round of knockout matches and another step further for the 8 teams that will win their respective matches.
Thursday's matches will feature West Region's #4 Florida State against #1 Gonzaga as the first game in Honda Center in Anaheim, CA which starts at 7:09PM ET. The second game is between #3 Texas Tech versus #2 Michigan.
The South Region will also have two matches in the Sweet 16 which will be held at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY. The first game will start at 7:29PM ET with #3 Purdue going up against #2 Tennessee and will be followed by #12 Oregon facing #1 Virginia in the second game.
Friday's matches will also be held in two venues. The East Region will be played at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. The first game will be #3 LSU versus #2 Michigan State at 7:09PM ET. It will be followed by the match between #4 Virginia Tech and # 1 Duke.
In the West Region, the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO will host the last two Sweet 16 matches. First game officially starts at 7:29PM ET between #5 Auburn and #1 North Carolina. It will be followed by the match between #3 Houston against #2 Kentucky.
The sportsbook handicappers have installed Virginia, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Michigan State, North Carolina, Duke and Kentucky as the favorite to advance the Elite 8 round after their respective Sweet 16 match-ups.
